In search of a go-anywhere stool…

On a quest for a solid and transportable stool for gigging

This stool was designed to solve a recurring problem I had. With significant back issues I was finding it hard to stand for an entire gig while playing bass. The instrument can be heavy and after an hour or more of solid playing I can really feel it.

In addition, it can be difficult to transport all my gear (in my case a bass, amp, gig bag, and mic stand) as it is. Adding a full size stool to the mix made it just too much hassle.

What I needed was something that was easy to transport, lightweight to carry, and a solid support while I played.

Enter the breakdown stool!

Breakdown Features

When you need to break down the stool for storage or transport, it will come apart into four distinct pieces. The two legs, the seat, and the footrest all separate for easy packing away or transporting.

This means that when you store the stool or pack it in your vehicle, it will take up almost no room. The two leg pieces are each less than an inch thick. The footrest and seat are less than two inches each. This makes it possible to stack in your car without taking up much room.

The legs, seat, and footrest all have slots in them that attach quickly and easily to form the stool. Once all four pieces are connected together, the stool is very strong and sturdy.

Because of how it is constructed, the legs can be customized to be just about any height while the seat and footrest remain the same. Seat heights from 24 inches to 30 inches can be ordered via the links below.

Easy Carry

The stool can be carried either as separate pieces or as an assembled unit. For carrying with one hand, I find it easier to carry the stool assembled. To do this, I grab the front of the two leg pieces between the seat and footrest. The leg pieces are tapered so you will find somewhere between the seat and footrest where the distance between the legs make it easy to grab.

When storing or transporting your stool in a vehicle, the stool can be broken down into pieces that are less than two inches thick and will lay flat — either vertically or horizontally.

Add a notch

The stool is now available with a notch in the seat! This can be used to keep your guitar from falling over when you stand up. Simply indicate in your order that you want the seat notch and your stool will come with a smooth notch that will hold your guitar up without causing damage.

Note: This will work best when the stool itself is on a surface that resists sliding. Putting a guitar against the stool can cause pressure that could make the stool slide. Placing the stool on carpet, concrete, grass, or any other surface with some resistence will mean that your stool will stay strong and hold your guitar up waiting for your return.
